Terminal 5 at Kennedy Airport ground to a halt for more than 80 minutes Sunday after a passenger was improperly screened at a security checkpoint, Port Authority and federal Transportation Security Administration officials said.

The passenger, who was not identified by officials, was not adequately screened before passing through security about 11:20 a.m., a TSA spokeswoman said. Security workers had to stop screening passengers so the passenger could be located and pass through security again, the spokeswoman said.

Terminal 5 was operating on schedule again by 12:42 p.m., the spokeswoman said.
