Kish Air plans to acquire four Embraer E195s, the airline’s chairman says in a press release issued today. Reuters reported already in January 2016 that Kish Air is studying possible purchases from Brazil’s Embraer.

The addition of four E195s will allow the airline to expand its network to 20 destinations, as a matter of priority set by the owner Kish Free Zone Organization (KFZO) to increase tourism and trade to the resort island.

In recent years, Kish Air has obtained a number of aircraft to its fleet in efforts to modernize the fleet. Currently, Kish Air’s fleet consists of 14 aircraft, whereof four are from the Airbus A320 family.

The 108-seated aircraft, built in 2008 and 2010, are expected to be delivered before 20 March 2017. Kish Air will become Iran’s very first airline to operate an Embraer aircraft, however, Aseman announced in September 2016 that they seek to close a deal.

Recently, both Kish Airport and Kish Air reported significant growths in number of flights and passengers.
