A Lufthansa Airbus A321 jet bound for Frankfurt had to return to Helsinki on Saturday when one of its engines failed.

Passengers Report Hearing an Explosion

Lufthansa Flight 851 landed safely with no reported injuries. The flight was carrying 168 people.

Passengers reported hearing a loud explosion shortly after takeoff.

Lufthansa declined to deny or confirm those accounts, saying the investigation is ongoing. Helsinki airport officials provided no further details.
